How To Get A Medical Marijuana Card For Ohio?

You must visit a doctor to get a recommendation for medical cannabis in Ohio. The next step is to register with a licensed medical marijuana dispensary. After you have signed up, you can buy your medical marijuana from the dispensary.

It can be difficult and time-consuming to get medical marijuana approval. This is how Ohio’s medical marijuana card process works.

Book An Appointment

You can book an appointment by calling the state or online via their official website. A pre-approval must be obtained by anyone interested in a consultation with a doctor about medical marijuana. You will not be allowed to get prescription from an Ohio doctor without it.

Talk To A Doctor

Your doctor will decide if you’re eligible for medical marijuana and, if yes, how your prescription will look. If your doctor determines you are qualified, they will issue a certificate form and a written treatment plan.

This certification ensures that the physician has a thorough understanding of medical marijuana and their medical history.

Approved

A doctor will issue a registration certificate to allow a patient to buy medical marijuana at any Ohio dispensary if they are approved after Ohio medical registry.

Patients must complete a certification form and a written treatment plan before they can be dispensed with medical marijuana. As long as the patient has signed the form, the dispensary will be able to supply medical marijuana.

The Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program reviews the written treatment plan and certification form. OMMCP will reject any application if the patient’s doctor does not consider the treatment plan medically necessary.

After approval by your doctor, your Ohio Board of Pharmacy will send you your medical marijuana card via email.
